What should I expect if I am new to indoor cycling?
One of the best things about indoor cycling is that it can be adapted to any fitness level. With the ability to adjust the resistance level on the bike, one can gauge the level of the workout to suit each rider's abilities. With every class comes a new level of confidence and strength.
What goes on during a class session?
Classes are run by a certified instructor at the front of the class who leads the participants in a number of different types of cycling routines. The routines are designed to simulate terrain and situations encountered in actual bicycle rides, including hill climbs, sprints and interval training.
How many calories are burned per class?
On average, you can burn anywhere from 400-600+ calories per session (45 minutes). This all depends on the weight of the individual and the amount of energy used.
How do I know which class I should attend?
Each person in the class is able to choose their own goals for the session, not everyone will be at the same level every session. Some will maintain a moderate, aerobic intensity level, while others may drive their heart rates higher.
Besides being a great form of aerobic activity, cycling is also beneficial in strengthening the muscles of the lower body. It tones the quadriceps and hamstrings, while working the back and hips.
It is recommended to bring plenty of water to class. Towels are provided by TheCycleStudio.
When do I need to sign up for a class?
You can sign up for classes up to 1 week in advance online or by phone. Walk-ins are also welcomed. Cancellations need to be made 24 hours prior to the start of class, also done online or by phone
